What is my best fit?

I found your website and offerings. What should I do? Privates vs. Group classes- What are your goals? What to expect? Why join our studio?

We know that there are a million online and free options when it comes to working out especially in the Pilates world. That is how I got started. (Thank you Pop Pilates!) However, joining a small, private studio, could be the best way to strengthen your Pilates practice. Here is a breakdown of what The Studio on Third will give you, and which option is right for you.

First, the option of group classes.  At the studio on Third, we offer a variety of group classes including, Reformer Pilates, Mat Pilates, Yoga, Nia and Jump classes.

Group classes offer great movement and a chance to practice with other people. At The studio on Third, we keep group classes small. Generally, classes range from 5-10 people. We do this on purpose because this gives the instructors a better chance to watch you and help you succeed.

What’s up with all the different reformer classes? Do I have to attend a Beginner class if I have never been on a reformer? I want my butt to get kicked. Which class should I attend? First, we offer different levels of reformer classes because of safety and flow. Must of us wouldn’t come to a marathon without training. There is Advanced/Athletic. This class moves quickly on the machine. You need to be familiar with the props, spring settings, and names of exercises. On the flip side, we offer Beginner Reformer. This class is a must if you have never been on the reformer. It will teach you the fundamentals and how to properly use the machine. Another option for beginners or those that want a slower class is Gentle Pilates.  And, lastly, you will see Reformer class. The reformer classes range in levels but offer modifications throughout the workout. Still is not for beginners.  Classes are designed to cater to different groups based on experience and skill level. We realize that certain classes may not be at your ideal time; however, it is necessary to understand how to operate the equipment to keep the flow of class. And, if you want your butt kick, that is up to you. Advance doesn’t always mean harder.

Group classes are designed to FLOW! As instructors, we do want to see you thrive, but can’t always be making adjustments to a workout. Hello, Private sessions. Private sessions are designed for you and your needs. Privates are made to pivot. We as instructors teach and train so that we can see what you need or where your body needs to go. I may have a jump class written out for you, but if you tell me that all you want is some mobility work, I can do that because it is only you or maybe I have a mobility class planned, and you just need a kick in the pants. The instructors will pivot. It is part of our job as trainers. Privates aren’t always there to flow, and it is a great way to use many different apparatuses. Plus, privates can be an amazing way to start your Pilates journey. We typically say that three privates will get you ready to jump into non-beginner classes.

At The Studio on Third, we want to see you thrive on your Pilates journey. Pilates is a journey that never ends. You keep peeling off more layers and discovering more about yourself and what you can improve upon. We don’t wish to discourage you from attending classes. If you are new to reformer Pilates, contact us, and we will work with you to help get you started because we want you to love Pilates as much as we do.
